Susan’s vibrant illustrative watercolours are infused with the authentic essence of the subjects themselves, resulting in an art of unusual integrity as well as beauty. She is a Banff World Media Festival award-winning artist for her watercolour green screen work with Anash and the Legacy of the Sun Rock. Her work has been featured in productions for Sesame Street (Children’s Television Workshop), the National Film Board of Canada, as well as in various children's books and language apps.
In addition to her studio work, Susan is a popular and highly sought-after artist in schools. Currently she is focusing her attention on children’s book illustrations and mentoring young and upcoming artists. A lifetime commitment to Indigenous culture sees Susan illustrating stories, language apps, and vocabulary to enhance the learning of Indigenous languages.
Susan's goal is to inspire self-awareness and imagination through art. It is her goal to enhance children’s self-confidence and their learning experience, opening the door for positive learning attitudes through creativity and learning about and honouring nature, Indigenous Cultures and respecting all life.
Sizzie &Vaila is a culmination of life experiences, stories and history of life in Susan's beloved Yukon and Shetland Isles, her Ancestral Lands.
